Expanding the FlightPod Platform with the King Air Series

A new King Air configuration is being developed to support affordable procedure and navigation training across several avionics generations.

The Beechcraft King Air family is one of the world’s most versatile turbine aircraft. Its long service history, broad operator base and range of cockpit configurations make it a natural next step for the modular FlightPod platform.

In response to customer interest, we are developing an affordable King Air procedure and navigation trainer. The immediate focus is a realistic and configurable training environment; any formal qualification or certification would be considered as a separate future step.

A modular cockpit architecture

Major panel components are planned around systems from Ruscool Engineering in New Zealand, integrated into our aluminium console architecture. Dual linked controls and three dimmable, high-quality touchscreens will support configurations ranging from analogue instrumentation and early EFIS layouts to Garmin-based avionics.

Built around representative controls

The throttle quadrant is designed close to full scale, with gated throttle and propeller levers together with electric trim. Engineering work remains, but the goal is to assemble the first prototype in December 2026 and begin practical evaluation from there.

One platform, several generations

The modular approach allows the core FlightPod structure to support different King Air panels and avionics packages without redesigning the complete simulator.
