A forthcoming pilot project will explore how structured simulator repetition can support proficiency, confidence and instructor-led progression.
We are preparing a pilot project to examine the Proficiency Driven Training concept in practical use. The study will focus on the value of repetition when pilots practise demanding situations in a controlled environment, with clear objectives and instructor guidance.
The concept is not intended to replace required aircraft training or credited simulator hours. Its purpose is to create more opportunities for structured practice between formal training events, helping pilots repeat procedures, review performance and build confidence.
The planned training environment
The project will use FlightPod One with dual linked controls and a Diamond DA40/42 Garmin G1000-style panel layout. This creates a familiar light-aircraft environment for testing exercises, instructor workflows and the practical use of performance data.
What we intend to learn
- How repetition affects confidence and procedural consistency
- Which exercises benefit most from structured simulator practice
- How instructors can guide and review progression efficiently
- What utilisation levels are realistic for a training organisation
- How a managed-service model could support implementation
Practice, review, progress
The pilot project is designed to generate evidence. Its findings will help us refine both the FlightPod configuration and the training concept before wider introduction.
